General Treatment FAQs

  • MAT is an evidence-based approach that combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies. This "whole-patient" approach helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, allowing you to focus on the psychological aspects of recovery.

  • No. Unlike illicit drugs, the medications used in MAT (like Buprenorphine or Naltrexone) are prescribed by medical professionals at controlled doses. They are designed to stabilize brain chemistry and block the "high," not produce one, helping you regain control of your life.

  • Addiction affects both the body and the mind. While medication manages the physical side, our behavioral health therapy helps you address the root causes of addiction, develop new coping skills, and heal from co-occurring mental health concerns like anxiety or depression.

  • Recovery is a personal journey. Some patients use MAT for a few months, while others find long-term maintenance is necessary for their stability. We work with you to re-evaluate your personalized treatment plan regularly.

  • Our model at Mavie Behavioral Health offers integrated care. Because the combination of medication and therapy has the highest success rate for long-term recovery, however, we Do Not require patients to participate in behavioral health support as part of their comprehensive MAT program.
